PROBLEM TO SOLVE

3rd party developers integrating with Indeed have a broken build, test, and launch experience utilizing Indeed's API suite part of the ATS partner program.

TARGET OKRs

  1. Reduce time from build to launch

  2. Lower number of support tickets

  3. Provide faster build validation

  4. Streamline developer experience

STEP ONE:

Discovery & User Journeys

To better understand the current process that partners take to build integrations with Indeed, I conducted in-depth discovery work that included interviews with Indeed partner operations teams and competitive analysis of existing partner platforms from other companies.

After compiling the information from the internal team interviews, I created user journey maps that illustrate the current partner process, including where the pain points exist.

STEP TWO:

Process Mapping

From understanding the current process, I created a process map to help illustrate where we could improve the steps of the overall experience, especially where the pain points exist.

I provided different variations that the product could adopt, user pathways based upon user decisions and system responses.

Partner experience includes, learning, requesting partnership, partnership acceptance, building and testing integrations through launch.

STEP THREE:

Information Architecture, Structure Mapping, New User Journey

I created an IA map of product areas planned to be a part of the Partner Console, broken down into three (3) categories that define the 3 parts of the partner journey -- Learn & Begin, Build & Test, Maintain.

Including a structure map helped inform cross-team understanding of the relationship between each part of the product, navigation to the pages, and flows into other processes.

An updated user journey was determined by utilizing user flows and figuring out how to relieve user pain points. The user journey displays the complete path for all 3 parts of the experience.

STEP FOUR:

Wireframes

A set of wireframes were created to begin showing the structure, layout, content and visual hierarchy.

These wireframes showcase :

  • Public facing, non-gated landing pages that inform prospective partners of Indeed's partnership benefits.

  • Become a Partner page

  • Developer platform home page within the gated console

  • XML validation tool

STEP FIVE:

Console Mockup Concepts & Change Management

Based on a set of criteria discovered through several rounds of user research, UXR, product, and UXD compiled a group of features and requirements to include in mockup concept designs.

During this iterative design tactic, I experienced ever-changing product requirements and uncertain vision decisions trickling down from top stakeholders, ultimately slowing forward progress.

HOW THE TEAM AND I WORKED THROUGH Ambiguity

  • Worked with my product manager to create vision documents outlining a holistic product view

  • Presented along with product to make a case for product direction and roadmap

  • Iterative design approach for fast mockup concepts to help paint a more tangible picture

  • Worked with UXR to create user interviews and task-driven tests for user research

  • Spent a week in a zoom workshop with engineering lead and product lead to nail down goals, product requirements, and a new roadmap

  • Collaborated with Japan team to merge products into one targeting both the Japan and US markets

  • Overcame communication and team dynamic challenges through compromise to continue forward movement

STEP SIX:

User Testing

I worked with the UXR team to help develop a usability testing plan with goals and desired outcomes for testing both the UI and functionality with current Indeed partners.

I worked to create a click-through prototype using the UI concept screens to walk the users through the most ideal path for starting and building integrations using both the partner platform and Indeed's suite of APIs.

As a result of user testing, we received valuable feedback from both partner Product Managers, Business Development Managers, Developers, Software Engineers, and other tech-focused roles.

STEP SEVEN:

MVP Launched Mockups

Below are some final mockups that made the MVP launch successfully reaching 300+ applicant tracking system (ATS) partners

Become a Partner

ACHIEVEMENTS

  1. Reduced time from 6 months to 1 month for build to launch

  2. Lowered support tickets by 40%

  3. Launched redesign for an instant XML build validation tool

  4. MVP provided a one-stop shop for everything developers need to integrate
